Summer Museum Employment for Students in Richmond

The Science Museum of Virginia is excited to offer paid internships for Summer 2023!

(see also NoVA Science Center opportunities)

To raise awareness of professional opportunities among students of all backgrounds, summer internships are being offered in science education and marketing to students enrolled at an accredited college or university.

Successful candidates will spend the majority of their time focused on a mentored project and will also have the opportunity to learn about a wide cross-section of science-adjacent career opportunities and the Museum's broader operations.

All interns will participate in professional development activities including meetings with Museum senior leaders, direct work experience, lunch-and-learn presentations on science and the Museum field, and networking opportunities.
The museum is located in Richmond, VA and all internships are in person.

Interested candidates will apply to a specific internship through the Commonwealth of Virginia job website - https://jobs.virginia.gov/ .

All submissions should include a letter of intent describing their interest in the specific internship, a résumé, and two letters of reference by March 1, 2023.

I am attaching a short description of each internship, including the direct link to apply for each one.  Feel free to share this information with your students and internal networks.  The position descriptions and instructions are posted on the Virginia job site, Handshake, and our Science Museum website - https://smv.org/get-involved/join-our-team/interns/

The Museum also hires seasonal employees for the summer, including several Summer Camp Counselor positions.  I am attaching a short description of our summer part time positions.  We will post these in mid-February and also throughout the year as needed.  Interested candidates will apply to a specific position through the Commonwealth of Virginia job website - https://jobs.virginia.gov/ .
