Summer High School STEM Internships at Virginia Tech's Northern Virginia Center

Virginia Tech DC Area STEM internships are open to students in 10th through 12 grade.  Previous high school interns or Thinkabit Lab camp participants are welcome to participate as undergraduates.  Credit or stipends can be arranged through your school or school division CTE programs.

Internship Description (you'll be encourages to make changes based on your preferred areas of focus - Biological, BioMedical, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Environmental, Health and Medical, IT, Physics, Public Policy):

Virginia Tech Physical Computing and Maker Education Lab, Summer 2023  

Falls Church, Virginia   

Support a 2400 square foot physical computing and maker-space lab for school-aged students and adults at the Northern Virginia Center graduate student campus in Falls Church, VA. Assist lab leaders in maintaining equipment and developing and implementing STEM education programs for schools, administrators, teachers and students in technical career exploration, microelectronics, engineering design processes, Arduino programming (C, C++), micro:bit programming (Microsoft MakeCode, Python, Javascript), RoboCrafting (arts-integrated creative robotics), VEX Robotics, and IOT (Internet of Things)/SmartCities and AI initiatives. Support integrated environment and technology projects, and also pursue independent or small-team projects. Teach students of all ages from elementary school groups to senior citizen lifelong learning programs.

Schedule for the upcoming weeks.  This may help you determine which days you plan to visit in-person (ideally 2 or more days per week, unless we make other arrangements).
